But the story "great" is, so to speak, reflected in the "small" story of a middle class family, not haughty or arrogant. Elitaria in the sense of believing in some higher values, with firmness and sense of responsibility. A family in which education was considered an important task, a family-fascist culture even before the policy choices.
Emerge tra le altre la figura del padre, sempre tranciante nei giudizi, un uomo forte nel carattere, con un bel lessico triestino: "sbrodeghezzi", "sempia", "asina". Parole che, pur apparentemente offensive, esprimono una calda partecipazione ad una vita famigliare, sempre vivace e mai noiosa.
La drammaticità degli eventi storici durante il fascismo e poi durante le guerra, pur pesando sul piccolo mondo di questa famiglia torinese, con l'esilio, il confino, la prigionia, non sembra scalfire la forza e la resistenza dei protagonisti.
